UMCOR Responding to Earthquakes The United Methodist Committee on Relief continues its work in response to the Haiti earthquake and is already mobilizing to respond to the earthquake in Chile this past weekend. Through the end of February, approximately $13 million has been donated to UMCOR for work in Haiti, which will be ongoing for years. If you would like to continue to donate to relief work in Haiti, please note UMCOR Advance #418325 on your check or your offering envelope. To direct donations toward relief work in Chile, note UMCOR Advance #3021178.
SUPPORTING OUR MILITARY
I have made it one of my missions to show support to our military personnel. I have done this with much help from the Church family. I am going to be putting together a box of goodies to send to Derrick del Rosario, a nephew of Aireen Aguilar’s, who is a nurse with a medical unit. If you would like to help fill the box here are some suggested donation items: beef jerky, granola bars, canned pastas (single serving pop-tops), fruit roll-ups, energy drink mixes, disposable razors, individual tissue packs, eye glass wipes, chapstick, gum in blister packs, hard candies, throat lozenges, small games, decks of cards, etc. If you would rather donate money than shop, we can use it towards the shipping or purchasing of items. I thank you in advance for any help! There is a green donation box in the church narthex. If you would like to include a card, you may drop it in the box as well. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you, Sue Martin

DISCIPLESHIP AND GROWTH CLASSES TO BEGIN FEBRUARY 18 Classes are six weeks long and run from 7:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Living for God through your Gifts and Strengths is being taught by Dr. Don Wallick. The book for the Gifts and Strengths class will cost approximately $15 per person. Each individual will need his or her own copy, as each book comes with a unique code to take the online Clifton Strengthsfinder assessment. Scholarship money is always available; just speak with Don Wallick if that would be helpful for you The other class is a Bible study on Philippians being taught by Dr. David Hogg. Do you remember this one: "...the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Or maybe you remember this one: "Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice." Or maybe you know this one: "...forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus." Paul's letter to the Philippians is filled with those beloved memory verses and many more. There is no cost to the class, we just need folks to sign up so that materials can be prepared. Don't miss this opportunity to study in depth one of the favorite books of the Bible. There is still room in both classes. Please sign up on the activity bulletin board at church, or send word to the church office you plan to be in class.
ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING OFFERING – MARCH 14 You are encouraged to support our “One Great Hour of Sharing Offering”. Gifts to this offering underwrite UMCOR's "costs of doing business." That helps it keep its promise that 100 percent of every other gift you make to a specific UMCOR project can be spent on that project - not on home office costs. UMCOR is a good steward of God's gifts. UMCOR’s top ratings by both Charity Navigator and the American Institute of Philanthropy attest to UMCOR’s financial accountability. Offering gifts over and above those used to cover administrative costs are channeled where they're most needed. UMCOR's specialized ministries responding in disaster, fighting hunger, alleviating poverty, providing relief supplies around the world, and offering hospitality to immigrants and refugees all assist the most vulnerable people whose need is greatest.
"THANK YOU" RECEPTION FOR TODD SPENCER Following Worship on March 21, there will be an opportunity to pay tribute to Todd Spencer. Todd is retiring from the position of Church Custodian which he has held for 19 years. Please join us in the Multi-Purpose room for cake, cookies and coffee and extend your personal "Thank You" to Todd for a job well done. SPRC Committee
FILL A BAG SUNDAY Sunday, March 28 will be the annual Fill a Bag drive to collect food for the NNEMAP food pantry. Please support this outreach project. The need is great. Mission and Social Outreach Committee

CHARITABLE PHARMACY OF CENTRAL OHIO, INC.
The Charitable Pharmacy of
Central Ohio, Inc. will open in mid-February. In addition to free
prescriptions for those who cannot afford them, health screenings and medication
counseling will be offered. Also, the pharmacy will be an Ohio Benefit Bank
site, a place for low-income people to easily access government programs like
Food Stamps and Ohio Works First.
However, in order to
provide all of these services to the residents of Franklin County,
volunteers are needed. Here are a few of the ways you can volunteer at the
Pharmacy:
* Front Door Greeters – Warmly welcoming clients to the Charitable Pharmacy.
* Pharmacy Guides – Transferring clients from the front door to the waiting room
of the Pharmacy.
* Waiting Room Volunteers – Assisting clients in signing in and completing
initial paperwork.
* Pharmacists/Pharmacy Students – Filling and processing medication orders,
counseling patients on medication, and sorting medication and samples.
* Doctors – Counseling clients on issues surrounding their health conditions.
* Nurses – Screening patients for high blood pressure and other health concerns.
* Interpreters – Helping translate questions and instructions during both
intake and health screening/counseling.
If you or someone you know
is interested in volunteering with the Charitable Pharmacy, please call
614-227-0301 or email
charitablepharmacy@gmail.com.
Volunteer training will be held Saturday, Feb. 6, 9-11 a.m. at
Livingston
