Who we are
Welcome to Church of the Good Shepherd!
Church of The Good Shepherd United Methodist has been a vital part of the Northland community for over 40 years. It began on August 3, 1969 when 88 people gathered at Walden Elementary School in Forest Park East to hold the first service.
In the last several years, we have studied the changes occurring in the Sharon Woods neighborhood, worked hard to reconnect with what is happening in our community, and considered the implications of being in a multiracial and multicultural neighborhood. At the end of that process, we adopted a new mission/vision statement to carry our ministry into the future. You can see the text of that statement on the Our Vision tab under Who We Are.
Since then we have increased outreach through our Community Garden, Good Shepherd Free Store, and through development of a new worship service - Common Ground - which launched on December 4, 2016.
